Irene Mary Gray

1933 - 2022

GRAY, Mrs. Irene Mary, of New Kent, Va. (born in 1933 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Irene Mary Stone), went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2022, just one week shy of her 67th wedding anniversary to her loving husband (married February 4, 1956). She was a loyal wife and sincerely supported her husband all the years of their marriage and he will miss her always. Irene graduated top of her class from Philadelphia General as an RN and spent many years working in private nursing before finally becoming supervisor at the Prison Ward of MCV while also gaining her B.S. Degree from MCV. She was an avid artist who painted oil paintings and loved to quilt. Irene is survived by her husband, George R. Gray; daughters, Germaine Mary Crites and Adria Laureen Stagg (and had a third daughter, Donna Lynn Gray, who died in 1958); and grandchild, Howard Clinton Talman and his fiance, Payge Gallagher; and numerous siblings whom she loved deeply. The family will receive friends for a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va. and will hold a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2631 Pocahontas Trail, Quinton, Va. 23141, followed by a burial after that at Hanover Memorial Park Cemetery, 4447 Mechanicsville Tnpk., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.
