James Bell Obituary

James A. Bell

James A. Bell, 83, of Chester, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 26, 2025, in Midlothian, VA. He was born on June 19, 1942 to the late Jessie Mae Bell Scott. He is preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents, James Roy Brummitt Sr. and Martha Ward Brummitt. Jim is survived by his daughters, Karyn Elizabeth Addington (Joey Addington), Stephanie Bell Robinson (John Robinson), Jessica Bell Tester (Drew Tester), Kameron Bell Lee (Jerrad Lee); grandchildren: Tristian, Jordan, Hunter, Nikolette, Skyllar, Lillianna, Ian, Charlotte, Belle, Ruby; numerous great grandchildren; and brother, Robert Bell (Harriet Bell). Jim lived most of his younger life in Big Stone Gap, VA, and finished high school in Gate City, Virginia. He loved playing high school football and getting into mischief with friends and his beloved brother. As a young adult, Jim moved to the Richmond, Virginia area and made Chester, Virginia his chosen home for most of his life. He was a dedicated employee of Westvaco (now Smurfit WestRock), starting on a factory floor and working his way up to traveling to many countries across the world as manager of quality assurance for a multitude of manufacturing locations. Whenever he was back in Chester, life was all about his daughters, L.C. Bird Football, Gino's Pizza, and Spencer's on Centralia Rd. Jim was an amazing, ferociously quick witted and hilarious man. He also had a way about him, in that during the toughest times, without a word, he showed up. On September 26th, while our world felt a bit dimmer, heaven surely brightened as Jim reunited with the family, friends, and the much-loved family pets that preceded him.
