James Maxwell "Jim" Proffitt Jr.

PROFFITT, James "Jim" Maxwell, Jr., 86, of Rockville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 28, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillian Proffitt. He is survived by his wife, Gonzalee Turman Proffitt; sister, Helen Slaughter; sons, James Proffitt III and David Proffitt; daughters-in-law, Tammy Smith and Jennifer Proffitt; grandchildren, Dylan Roberts, Cody Roberts and Katelyn Proffitt; and great-granddaughter, Arianna Roberts. Jim was a devoted husband, father, friend and Navy veteran. After retiring from a 25-year career at IBM Corporation as a computer engineer, he retired again from a second career at Franklin Federal Savings and Loan as a computer programmer. He was also an accomplished home builder and enjoyed music, photography and spending time with friends and family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Goochland Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to Goochland Baptist Church at 2454 Manakin Rd., Manakin-Sabot, Va. 23103.
