James Sale Obituary

SALE, James Eubank, Fair Winds and Following Seas -– James "Jim" Eubank Sale, born January 5, 1936 passed away May 14, 2023 at the home of his niece and caregiver, Robin Montgomery (Dan). He was preceded by his parents, Eubank Taylor Sale and Ethel Hicks Atkinson; his brothers, Jack Sale and David Sale.

A proud combat veteran, Jim retired as a Navy Chief Warrant Officer W-4 on April 1, 1987 after 30 years of service in the U.S. Navy and Air Force. He completed multiple tours and deployments to Cambodia, Philippines and Vietnam as well as serving on the USS Midway and USS Enterprise. During his time in the military in support of our nation, James earned the Air Medal (x2), Joint Services Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy

Expeditionary Medal (x2), National Defense Service Medal (x2), Vietnam Service Medal and countless other awards and commendations and more medals and recognitions.

Jim is survived by his sister, Phyllis Ann Slasor and; sister-in-law, Betty Sale; his children, David Robert Sale (Jan), Noel Lee Sale (Fernando), Henry Allyn "Al" Sale (Hope), Debbie Cribbs Phillip (Mark); three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Virginia for their support and care. Services will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Court House, Va. 23002.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's name to any Veteran Assistance Group of your choice.

i served with Jim when he was a Photo Striker aboard USS Enterprise.he made 3rd class in the summer of 66.
Jim was always good for a cold San Miguel in Olongapo.

So sorry for your loss. Jim and I met at USC then spent the next year in Vietnam on the DOD Combat Motion Picture Team. Remained friends for the next 50 plus years. I see Hospice has involved so hopefully his last days were comfortable. Duane Romine ,352-219-8378.
