James Tripp Obituary

TRIPP, James B. Jr., 62, of Richmond, passed away quietly after a brief bout with cancer on September 5, 2007. Jim was born in Greenville, N.C. and grew up in Chesterfield, and graduated from Manchester High School. He served four years in the Air Force and retired from E.I. Dupont in Richmond. After retirement, he pursued his real love to "drive". He started his own business "Tripps Travel", and for seven years provided transportation services to corporate and personal customers throughout Virginia. He was an active member of the Virginia Limo Association and the NLA. He shared a full and happy life with many people that will be left to mourn his passing. He is survived by his wife, Pam; his beloved parents, J.B. and Dean Tripp; his devoted brothers and their wives, Glen and Sylvia, Mike and Lily; his devoted stepson, Tim Totty and his daughter Chelsea, who was "Poppie's sweetheart"; his adopted son, Bart Bass; his beloved and devoted niece and her husband, Jennifer and Doug Taylor; his nephew, Richard Tripp; his cousins, Bill and Wayne Buck; his extended family of Ron and Faye Gilder, Motor, Faye and Harold Jackson. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's - Chippenham, 6900 Hull St. Rd. A celebration of life ceremony will be held 11 a.m. on Monday at the Virginia Veteran's Cemetery at Amelia. Please gather at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Monday if you would like to join the family in procession to the cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear about Jimmy's death, the Tripps go back to our family many years, they lived across Warwick Road from us. Carolyn Hogwood and myself grew up with Jimmy, playing everything from football in our field to chats about nothing much at all. I am sorry I missed the service, I was recovering from surgery, and found out from Billy Cecil. Jimmy was a great kid and teenager and I know he had to have been a great influence to people he knew in his adult life. I will keep you and the family in my prayers.

to all of the family and friends of jim tripp, i send my deepest condolences on your loss. I have known jim for three years and used his services many times. he was the epitome of a business owner and operator. he was always there on time and was always interested in his customer's life if they wanted to share thoughts with him.

Just a little note to tell you what a great man Jim was.I only knew Jim for about 7 years and It was never dull standing at the airport beside Jim. He loved telling stories and I was all ears. When we needed Jim to handle a run for us he would say "just fax it to me" and I will take care of it. Over the years of Jim working for us not once did we ever have a complaint. Jim will be missed by all of us who knew and cared deeply for him. If you ever need anything please call.

Jim was a true professional in the executive car business. He was positive minded, courteous, friendly to everyone, accomodating to peoples needs and always on time. Jim was always neatly dressed and he kept his car spotless. He went the extra mile for his clients and excelled in his service to others. It's very seldom that some one comes along like Jim who takes such pride in his work and enjoys what he does. Jim left a big hole in all of our lives. Just to say all of us at Winn Transportation will miss him is an understatement.

Jim as ya'll call him will always be Jimmy to me. We went to elementary school together and were best buds. but I did not know he was born in Greenville, NC. I knew Tripps there years ago. I have not spoken with Jimmy in years but thought of him often. Now I regret not trying to locate him and talk to him. He was the comedian in the bunch back then. Just knowing his character, I know he will be missed. I can't imagine him being anything but a great husband, father and grandfather. I know he was a good friend. My heart will miss him. May God keep him in the palm of his hand.

Our entire family appreciates what a wonderful & positive influence Jim was on my cousin, Bart. To say that he will miss him very much is quite an understatement. Bart's whole family of Halls, Harris' & others will keep your family in our prayers during this very difficult time.
