Jo Ann Darlington

DARLINGTON, Jo Ann, 81, of Highland Springs, Va., went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 5, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ida Getz; a sister, Frances Gonzales (Frank); and her brothers, James Getz, Donald Getz (Nellie) and Martin Getz (Virginia). She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Burley "Buddy" Darlington Jr.; three children, Mary Frances Hebert (Mitch), Kellie Vitale (Tony) and Mark Darlington (Teresa); three grandchildren, Mitchel Hebert IV (Hillary), Matthew Hebert (Taylor) and Ann-Renee Vitale (Jared); two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Wyatt Hebert; a sister-in-law, Margaret Getz; and many other relatives and friends. Jo Ann was a devoted, lifelong Catholic. She was very outspoken and was a strict disciplinarian with her children. She enjoyed bowling, watching Washington Nationals baseball and playing bingo. She loved celebrating her children's birthdays and Christmas with her family and always made sure they were special for everyone. She loved the Lord and cherished her time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at St. John's Catholic Church, 813 W. Nine Mile Rd., Highland Springs, Va. 23075, with interment to follow in Washington Memorial Park.
