John Wilkinson Obituary

Wilkinson Jr., John Randolph, 80, of Aylett, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 14, 2025, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie Seay Wilkinson; parents, John Randolph Wilkinson Sr. and Margaret Marshall Wilkinson. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Theresa P. Ferrell, (J-O); two grandchildren, Christa Marie Ferrell, Jonathan Connor Pappas Ferrell, (Alex); one great grandchild, Jon; sisters, Sylvia Wilkinson Culberson, (Jimmy); Cathi Wilkinson Jackson; one sister-in law, Susan Seay Jarrelle (Ranny); Five nieces, Donna Culberson McWilliams, Dina Culberson, Vicki Jackson Criteser, Carla Jackson Wheeler, and Ashley Jackson also survive him. Fifteen great-grandnieces and nephews survive John. Additionally, he leaves behind his best pal, Chase, his five-year-old Beagle.

John retired from Southern Optical after an extensive career in the Optical field. John loved hunting, camping, and spending time with his wife Ann in their garden. After retirement, John enjoyed visiting with family and attending his grandchildren's piano and dance recitals, soccer games, and volleyball games.

The family would like to thank the Nurses and Care Partners who cared for John during his battle with cancer. We would like to thank the Nurses, Care Givers, and Staff at Suncrest Hospice, Morningside in the West End Assisted Living and Journey Together Home Care.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Greenwood Memorial Garden, 12609 Patterson Avenue at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
