Johnnie Benson Obituary

Johnnie Jay Benson, age 56, of Varina, died peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melody; and his parents, Jay and Florence Benson. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Hicks and Carrie Benson; grandsons, John Benson and Noah and Adam Hicks; sisters, Mary Jo Casey and Nancy Lee Harvey; and brother, Jimmy Jay Benson. Mr. Benson was a faithful employee of Lee Hy Paving for 44 years. He was a loving father, a devoted worker, a friend to all who knew him, and an excellent shot with a 12-gauge shotgun. Friends may call on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where services will be held 2 p.m. Monday. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

I worked with Johnny for the last 8 years. Hewas ahard worker and good friend.He will be missed by all who new him, it was a pleasure to have known Johnny.Iknow how you must feel my wife is battling Lung Cancer now,it is hard to see a loved one go through this battle.GOD BLESS HERB WILLIAMS
