When I remember Johnnie I think of his huge smile and sense of humor. We had adventures together like riding on a 47 passenger tour bus trying to get Chinese food for our wives in Orlando! They didn't believe us. It was hilarious! I miss him.

To the Jarman Family:
I just learned of Coach Jarman's passing. Johnnie, as I affectionately knew him for some twnety years or more from VUU. Truly when our paths crossed years later and Johnnie had become a minister, I told him that his walk and his talk showed the new creature in him. He was truly called to the ministry.
Please know family that I mourn as you mourn. Johnnie will be sorely missed by the community and church at large and as my friend.
My prayers will continually be for your peace and comfort because we know that one day if we live for Christ as Johnnie did, when we die, we will rise up again and we will see him again.

I am deeply sadden to hear of the passing of my friend and brother, Johnnie. We met in the Youth For Christ Council many years ago. He always used to make my side hurt from laughing so hard at his wonderfully winning antics which changed my life and shaped my destiny in ways not yet fully realized. I will miss his presence dearly. To the family I say be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

To the family of the late Rev. Johnnie Jarman, may you forever feel God's presence and peace through our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Rev. Jarman was a teacher, a coach and a mentor to me. My family and I were sadden by his passing. Truly, he will be missed. I count it a priveledge and honor to have served by his side as an assistant coach for the George Wythe football team in the past. On many occassions, he gave me opportunities to teach his Bible Study on Wednesdays and to preach at his church. He even wrote a recommendation for me to get into the Samual DeWitt Proctor School of Theology doctoral program at Virginia Union. I will see him again in glory!

Coach Jarman set an example that when you get to go be with the Heavenly Father, all your work here has been done. He touched so many lives, George Wythe will never be the same. He had a passion for being a father to the fatherless. God Bless for it is not good-bye, but see you later.

To the Jarman family, I express my deepest and most sincere sympathies in the loss of such a man as Coach Jarman. Though I never had him as a coach or teacher, I will always remember him walking through the halls at George Wythe High, keeping everyone in check and ensuring that they made it to class on time. He will be greatly missed and I was both shocked and saddened when I heard about his passing but I know and hope that you too will be comforted in knowing that he is in a much better place now. I pray that God will comfort and keep you all in such a sad time as this.

I was a student at George Whyte in 83/84 and I heard this booming voice saying "young lady I'm going to keep an eye on you and if you mess up I'm going to tell your daddy on you." I turned around and looked into the smiling face of Rev. Jarman. He and my dad are the best of friends and on holidays it was nothing for us to go to the Jarman's and enjoy some coach Jarman Bar-B-Que. My prayers go out to your family but remember God never makes a mistake and He is too kind to be mean. Blessings and Love.

Rev. Johnnie C. Jarman, AKA Coach Jarman was My husband's high school Football Coach and friend @ Thomas Jefferson over 20 years ago. My husband is Gregory A. Jones. I know coach Jarman had a way of personalizing his relationships with everyone with whom he came in contact because of the way he embraced me upon our first meeting. The last time we saw him @ 1 1/2 year ago, he stated "When I put 'em together, they stay together!" I believed him when he said this, and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I wish we had more time with him. His light will glow for ever in our hearts. Our sympathy goes out to the family of coach Jarman.

I have tried to explain the difference between "joy" and "happiness", as happiness depends on the circumstances whereas joy is independent of the circumstances. I was not happy when my mother and father died, but I have joy because I know where they are. So with Johnnie -- I am not "happy" with his leaving, but I have "joy" because I know where he is, and I shall see him again. My prayers for peace for all the family.

When it came to PASTOR I always felt like I was the daughter he never had, but as I read the some of the entries in this guestbook, I see that he made a lot of people feel that special. This loss for me is one of my hardest yet. John, Ms. Johnson, and Butch may the JOY of the LORD be your strentgh. Find joy in knowing that PASTOR is fine, and know that now he is really doing "GREAT". One thing that I always admired about PASTOR was the geniuine love he had for people. No matter who, no matter what. He has touched many lives, and for what he has been to me and my family, I am eternally grateful, and consider myself blessed to have had him as my Pastor.
John, remember Phil. 4:13-that was your dad's motto :) I pray that you will find strength in that scripture. I love you!!

Rev. Jarman was more than my pastor, I am honored to say he was my friend. I was blessed that we are able to share in our love and worship of the Lord and how we constantly kept one another covered in prayer. Rev. Jarman did not just talk the talk, he walked the walk. And although I am saddened that I will not see him anymore when I come home to visit. I can find peace in knowing that he knew the Lord and has a genuine relationship with Him so Rev. Jarman is at home and at rest. I pray that all the love and all that he taught and shared with all of us will be reflected in the way we love one another. Rest in Peace Pastor. Johnny,
I have just received the news that you have moved on. I have read many of the entries to your guest book. You have touched many lives, you have left a legacy, a name to be remembered by many for years to come. How many of us can truly say this?
Many are shocked of your passing but I know death is inevitable, this being said, we must all be ready when our time is up.
Knowing the man you are, I am sure your spritual house is in order and you are prepared for this transition, you are in a better place.
We have been friends for over 35 years. Though we haven't seen each other or talked in quite a while, I am seeing you now in my minds eye and laughing at the many good times we shared in our youth. Nothing can take those thoughts away. I will always remember your smile, demeanor and the fact that you are and have been a great pal whom I shall never forget.

Johnnie blessed my life during the 1960's, when he was a student at Maggie Walker, and I, Armstrong. Even then, I saw in him the promise of a great human being, a servant of God.
To know Johnnie was to love him for he was the best example of what God would desire of us on Earth. When my sisters went to be among the ancestors, four years ago and four months to the day of each other, Johnnie was there, praying for one in the hospital and ministering at both of their funerals. When my remaining sister suffered a stroke, Johnnie, again, was right there in her hospital room, providing spiritual guidance and strength. Johnnie gave me the strength to deal with the passing of my two sisters and my remaining sister's illness, and I desire his loved ones know that my prayers are with them for strength at this time.
We know not the hour that God returns righteous souls to his Glory, yet we know what He expects of us on earth is determined before we enter this place. Johnnie fulfilled his earthly journey for God. It is for us, who remain, to do the same. Goodnight by sweet Johnnie, and know that your kind spirit and radiant smile shall live in me always.
Love,
Patricia

To the family of Rev. Johnnie Jarman,
God has chosen to call home a great man. I shall always give praise to God for having had the opprtunity to know Rev. Jarman. I shall never forget the great encouragement he was to me when I first entered the ministry 17 years ago, as he allowed me to teach bible study at Bethany Baptist Church for several weeks. I shall miss him on this side of Jordon, but I know that Johnnie was a prepared man ready for the prepared place (John 14:1-3) and I shall see him again. My prayer to God is that He gives you all strenght to go through this time of grief.

To the family and friends of Johnnie Jarman. My deepest sympathy goes out to all. Jarman and I have communicated over the years since our George Wythe days. My son was young when we all first met, and then he coached him in basketball when he attended Wythe. He also ministered my son's wedding 3 years ago. Jarman will be missed by all who knew him. He will certainly be missed by me and my family. My prayers are with you all. He is now resting in God's hands. Take Care.

To Butch, John-John and the entire Jarman family and also the Bethany Baptist Church Family. I want each of you to know that God will sustain and keep you. As you know Rev. Jarman was more than a friend to me, he was like my brother. He was also one of the most dedicated teachers and coaches in the Richmond Public School system. He never gave up. On many Sunday mornings after I moved back to Louisville we would talk on the phone about our sermons for the day. His inshightulness would often help me add something to my sermon that I had not thought about. I am thankful that he was able to preach for my 7th pastoral anniversary two years ago little did I know that it would be the last time that I would see him. Hang on the precious memories that you have of you father and be strong in the Lord. You can not get used to death but you can get through it. The Forest Baptist Family joins me in prayer with and for the family.

I send my heart felt sorrow to the family of Rev Jarman. There is no greater glory of man than one who preaches the gospel. Be at ease, for he is basking in company far better than seen on earth.

It was once said that " You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips". Rev. Jarman exemplified that in his daily walk. You will be greatly missed. Love Kay&Klay of the Bethany Baptist Church/Marmora Baptist Church.

I am truely saddened by the passing of Coach Jarman. Over the years I worked with him at George Wythe, but I feel that I really got to know him when he became a patient at Chippenham Hospital. May he rest in peace.
