I first met Joe in the later part of 1985 while stationed at Fort McCoy, WI. We quickly became friends as army instructors while assigned to the Army Reserve Readiness Training Center. In addition, following our respective retirements from the army we worked together at the US Army National Guard Headquarters in Arlington, VA.

Hi Lojek family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Joe was truly one of the good guys in this crazy world.
He was my best friend during our misery years at St. Anne grade school, dealing with the insane nuns. He was the funny guy that helped get me thru these tough years. We worked together on many of our Cub Scout electives. Joe had the fastest pinewood derby car, but wouldn´t admit that his dad helped him. We collected coins together, hope you still have them. Many fun times with chemistry set, model cars and planes, and just catching ball.
Recently ran into a grade school guy who asked me about Joe, and I said I would look him up online. Sorry it was too late.
I will say a prayer for all of you.
God Bless, thank you for your service Joe!

Dear Vickie, saddened to learn of Joe's passing. Seems like yesterday we served together at Ft McCoy. Joe and Mike were so darn funny together, always lifted everyone's spirit in the long hours of standing up a new program. He was a fine officer and a gentleman. Until you meet again...hugs Vickie.
