Kenneth Snider Obituary

Kenneth "Kent or Phantom" Arthur Snider, age 83, passed away on September 21, 2023, in Moberly, MO. He was born on July 17, 1940, in Great Falls, Montana. Kent or Phantom, as he was affectionately known, had a rich and fulfilling life.

Kent or Phantom is survived by his long time companion, Marge DiSalvo, his loving children, Jeffrey Snider, Timothy Snider, Monica Tucker, Veronica Baldwin, and Justine Wright. 9 grandchildren: Mark Allen Tucker, Brent Tucker, Trace Baldwin, Amber Baldwin, Jimi Wright, Garrett Wright, Hana Haden, Clayton Moore and Maycee Moore. Nephews Gene , Donny and Dale Powell and niece Faith Powell. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Lois Snider, his sister Elaine Powell, and his daughter Jessica Snider.

Kent attended Massanutten Military Academy for his brief high school education. Following his education, he proudly served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962. His military associations as a Navy servicemember shaped his character and instilled in him a strong sense of duty, honor and discipline.

After his military service, Kent pursued a career as a machinist, draftsman, and mechanic. His expertise and dedication were highly regarded by his colleagues and those he served.

Kent or Phantom was an active member of the Mt Zion Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. He cherished his time spent there and valued the spiritual connections he made.

In his free time, Kent enjoyed fishing, making bracelets, fixing lawn mowers, studying history and visiting wounded veterans. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity and compassion.

A funeral service will be held in honor of Kent or Phantom at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO, on October 3, 2023, at 11:00 am. Additionally, a memorial mass will be held at a later date at Benedictine in Richmond, VA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kent or Phantom's name to the Staurolite Foundation at Staurolitefoundation.com or through the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.GarySiniseFoundation.org. These organizations support veterans from all branches of the military and first responders.

Kent or Phantom Snider will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of service, dedication, and kindness will continue to inspire and impact others for years to come.

Thank you Dad for everything. Being a good father starts with being a good man, and you were definitely a good man - not perfect, no one is. I never met anyone more generous than you and that was a fine example to us all. You worked so hard to provide for us. That was also a great example to us as you didn't raise any slackers. Most of the stuff the Army threw at me was relatively easy after growing up in the Snider home. I know that God had his hand on you and our entire Family from the second you were born and we were blessed to have you with us as long as we did. BZ (Well Done), Young Sailor. We will miss you always!
