Kimberly Owens-Butler Obituary

OWENS-BUTLER, Kimberly Dawn, 59 of St. Stephens Church, VA, entered her heavenly home Monday, May 6, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family and friends. She was proceeded in death by her father, James Ryland Owens Sr. Kim is survived by her daughter, Carrie Woodland (Edwin); son, Andrew Butler (Haley); mother, Agnes Cooke Owens; brother, James Ryland Owens Jr.; sister, Debbie Ware (Alan); soon to be four grandchildren, Alexis, James, Ryland, and baby Woodland; and her fur child, Scarlett. Kim graduated nursing school in 1984 and worked as an LPN in family practice until 2019. She then began her most beloved job, keeping her grandchildren-they sure kept her busy! She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grammy, and dog mom. Some of her favorite things were adventures with Scarlett-who always kept her on her toes, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family. Kim wanted everyone, especially her family to remember to "Go out and live your best life because I did!"

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at B.W. White Funeral Home, 7837 Richmond-Tappahannock Hwy. in Aylett. Funeral service will be held at Shepherd's UMC on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. with a one hour viewing prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepherd's UMC Cemetery fund, 163 Fleets Mill Rd. St Stephen's Church, VA 23148, The American Cancer Society, your local animal shelter, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Oh Kim, the adventures we had! It started in nursing school and that was so fun we decided to move in together. I loved our late night chats and feasts. In retrospect, jumping off the pier at midnight wasn´t our best idea but we learned how quickly we could scamper up that hill. Sleep well sweetie, you are so loved.
