I was sorry to learn of Mr. Gooss's passing. I met him through the Mechanicsville chapter of the AARP. He annually invited me to share about Senior Connections' services and proposed the chapter sponsorship/ gift-giving for seniors with needs at Christmas. He always contacted me early to assure the list was ready for the November meeting. He had a generous, caring heart. He once brought delicious rye bread hors d'oeuvres to the November meeting luncheon- I asked him about it- he said he had gotten the recipe from his late wife and brought them because they were easy to make- and he reliably brought the recipe next time. Although he was smart and lent his previous work talents to AARP and other projects- he was modest, never speaking of his accomplished background. He continued to be supportive of subsequent AARP leaders. He was reliable and dedicated, a contributor who did not seek the lime light. He demonstrated persistence. We will miss his gentle spirit and smile. May you be comforted during this time and the days ahead.
