Lewis Vernon Lanham Sr.

Lewis Vernon Lanham Sr., 83, of Callao and formerly of Varina, peacefully went to be with his Lord Tuesday, June 3, 2003. He is survived by his son, Lewis V. Lanham Jr. and his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Cheryl Hues Putt and her husband, Harold; five grandchildren, Kevin, Adrianne and Robert Lanham and Christopher and Casey Hues. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mildred "Millie" Lanham; and a son, Raymond Wayne Lanham. Mr. Lanham was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church in Callao, a member of the Quinton Oaks Senior Men's Golf League and an honorary member of the Ladies' Golf League. He was a retired employee of DuPont and was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Lanham was so blessed to have so many wonderful friends who have always been there for him and his family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Avenue, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday.
