Margaret Perkinson Obituary

Margaret B. Perkinson

September 25, 1953 - May 27, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of Margaret B. Perkinson, 71, of Hanover, Va., who departed this life on May 27, 2025, to be with the Lord. A dedicated public servant, loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, she lived a life defined by selflessness and quiet strength.

Margaret dedicated her life to the service of others, beginning with her work for our nation's veterans at the VA hospital, and continuing through her 29 years of public service to the citizens of Hanover County with the Community Services Board. In every role she held, she led with heart and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right, not for recognition, but because it was who she was.

Her family was the center of her world. As a wife, she was a steadfast partner; as a mother, a guiding light; and as a grandmother-her proudest role-she was a source of endless joy and unconditional love. Her loved ones always came first. Even in her final days, her thoughts were not of herself, but of those she would leave behind, ensuring they felt supported, and above all, loved. Her legacy of service and love lives on in the hearts of those she touched and in the lives of the family and friends she cared for so deeply.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Russ; her children, Ashley Lancaster (William), and Rob Perkinson (Lindsay); her grandchildren, Patricia, Graham and Lane; and sisters, Mary Ellen and Martha, who will all carry her spirit forward.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12th, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111, where friends, family, and community members are invited to honor the beautiful life she lived and the profound impact she made. There will be a private graveside service in Hollywood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Hanover Safe Place: https://www.hanoversafeplace.com/donate-now, a cause she was passionate about.
