I have fond memories of The Rev. Max Greene and Flora Greene and their family. I was a member of Ruckersville Baptist Church when Rev. Greene came as our pastor. His son, Danny, and I are the same age and we both attended William Monroe High School. I enjoyed being with the Greene family at church and their home. They were a loving family. Rev. Greene performed the wedding ceremony for my husband and myself. He insisted on an informal counseling session beforehand and had some words of wisdom for us that we never have forgotten. I will keep the family in my prayers.

How fortunate and how blessed I am to have known the Greene family. Rev. Greene became my pastor at Ruckersville Baptist Church when I was just beginning high school. He and his wife were devoted to the teenagers of our church and opened their home and their hearts to us. In the summers they took us to the lake and to play putt-putt golf. In the winters they took us roller-skating and sledding in the snow. William Monroe High School had just begun a football program and Rev. Greene was a great supporter and dedicated fan. It was inspiring to me, as a cheerleader, to see my pastor at the games, either praying with the team or speaking words of encouragement from the sidelines. Rev. Greene extended his love to everyone he met in the community and his life clearly demonstrated his great love for Jesus. Rev. Greene was a faithful servant. For all the many years of exceptional service, I am very grateful. The world is a better place because of Rev. Max Greene.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I so remember going to his house in Ruckersville, and doing " The hokey Pokey". Loved this man, he just made you feel very special, almost like you were the only one. Later after I grew up, He married my husband and myself in Ruckersville at my grandparents front yard. {Elizabeth and Winfred Wyant} My grandfather passed away with alzheimers 2 years ago. Its very hurtful to us here on earth, but just the KNOWING that both men are with the Lord , the peace just comes over you. Love and Prayers during this very difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Greene family at this time of grief. I will always remember Reverend Greene as the first pastor that I ever had as a child and then later in my teen years, on the sidelines of EVERY Fluvanna County High School football game. He was an inspiration to many and he will be sorely missed.

Uncle Max loved the Lord with his life, serving Him along side his wife. Striving to live each day in a pleasing way. Walking under the Son's ray. You will be missed here, but someday we will be there.
