Midge, Charlie, Rick, and Chip,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I can only imagine what you must feel like.
My memories of Missy are of long ago when the kids were small and played together living right behind each other was great, we had great times with our camping expeditions, and of course all the things that go with growing up.
It has been 30 years next year since we moved from Hidalgo but the fond memories are there along with the bad times.
I will remember you all in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Joyce

DEAR MIDGE,
I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT MISSY. MY MOM CALLED TODAY AND HAD TALKED TO HER FRIEND LUCILLE.I MET MISSY WHWN I WAS ABOUT 4 YEARS OLD AND WE LOST CONTACT WHEN WE MOVED TO TEXAS IN 1978. WE WERE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS. I HAVE PHOTOS OF US ON THE BEACH AT NAGS HEAD WHEN WE WERE KIDS AND PHOTOS AT MY BIRTHDAY PARTY IN 1966 AND 1967. I WILL TRY TO DOWNLOAD THEM.WE HAD FUN AS KIDS AND OUR BACK GATE JOINED YOURS. I REMEMBER THE PET RACOON, THE THE BASSET HOUND THAT GOT THE FISH HOOK STUCK IN HIS MOUTH AND PLAYING TETHER BALL IN YOUR BACK YARD. YOU MOVED TO POQUOSON TO THE HOUSE RIGHT ON THE WATER AND WE WOULD GO CRABBING. I HOPE SHE DID NOT SUFFER AND FEEL BAD FOR LOSING CONTACT.
ALL MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU,
LISA RICHARDSON (SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS)

Melissa made a large number of new friends in recent years at one of the Slip's favorite restaurants, and she was a great friend to all that had the opportunity to meet her. She was very quick witted, very personable and funny and could put anyone in their place, should that be necessary. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family in this time of grieving. Melissa will truly be missed by her friends from the "regulars corner."

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cooke,
My deepest sympathies for your loss. Melissa and I were neighbors and friends 15 years ago. My best memories will be of all those summer weekends with her and friends in Nags Head. We lost touch when I moved away and then she did as well. She will be missed.

I worked with Melissa at the Department of Mental Health while she was here, and grew fond of her. She came to me and shared her frustrations with her job, and I hoped I was able to provide a sympathetic ear. She was hard-working, smart, and caring. Her death was a shock, and I'm going to miss her.
