Michael John Ruppert
Ruppert, Michael "Mike" J, of Midlothian, VA passed away peacefully at his home on March 7, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Anne Ruppert, and his brother, Stephen (Kathleen) Ruppert. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marcia; sons, Eric (Amy), Jeffrey (Patricia), Christopher (Samantha), Shawn (Sarah) and daughter, Susan (Reid). He was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Stephen (Abbey), Sarah Jane, Benjamin, Roland, Peyton, Madelynn, Wyatt, Bowen, Aubrie, Henry & Grey.
Michael was born in Baltimore, MD and naturally became a Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Orioles fan, enjoying attending games with his wife, Marcia, and children. After high school, Michael proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965. He then started a job with Bell Atlantic while attending night school to earn his BSE in Electrical Engineering and MAS Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University where his two oldest sons saw him graduate. He went on to have a very successful engineering career with AT&T, Viasystems, Lucent Technologies unitl he retired from Johns Mansville in 2004.
Michael, along with his wife Marcia, was a dedicated member of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church for over 30 years and maintained steadfast faith. He loved spending his free time on the golf course and achieved three holes-in-one during his lifetime, attributing them more to luck than skill. As much as he loved playing and watching the game of golf, his favorite place to be was with his family, attending sporting events and school activities for his grandchildren.
Michael embraced living by example, and will be remembered for his deep love of family, his faith, his devotion to his wife, Marcia, his carefree spirit, contagious smile, appreciation for a good meal (especially breakfast), love for the game of golf, and dedication to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who know him.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Bliley's Funeral Home, 6900 Hull Street Rd N, Richmond, VA. A memorial service will be held at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, 1100 Mt Pisgah Dr, Midlothian, VA 23113, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at Salisbury Country Club. His service to his country will be honored with a private burial at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.
