Norman Roderick Obituary

RODERICK, Norman "Bud", died February 2, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Norman and Edna Roderick; sister, Helen Louise Hessler of Ashland, Ky.; brother, James Warren; and sister-in-law, Betty Challis Roderick. Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Beverly M. Roderick; daughter, Carol Samuelson, her husband, Erwin, of Anchorage, Alaska; and grandson, Lance of Valencia, Calif.; son, James Gary Roderick and his wife, Kim, of Monroe, N.C.

Bud was born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., in 1929. Graduated from G.A.R. High School. He worked for White Hardware and Harris Hardware and Supply Co. from 1942 to 1963. He was the Sales Manager for U.S. Expansion Bolt Co. in York, Pa., from 1963 to 1971. In 1971, he founded his own Manufacturer's Rep Company covering the states of Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina, calling on industrial and rental markets for small and light duty construction equipment until his retirement in 1996. In 2001, he became a doorkeeper for the Virginia House of Delegates until he was elected as the Sergeant at Arms. He held this position from 2004 for until 2013. Bud was a Member of Meadowbrook Country Club in Richmond, Va., for 40 years and enjoyed playing golf and socializing with friends at the club. He was a member of Fidelity Lodge 655 in Wilkes Barre, Pa. since 1958. He was also a member of the ACCA Shrine and former President of the Greeters Unit in Richmond, Va. His family and close friends will miss his dry wit and great laugh. A celebration of his life will announced at a later date.
