Olivia Palmore Obituary
December 20, 1947 - March 21, 2025
Olivia Jenkins Palmore, 77, of Powhatan, VA, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Olivia was born on December 20, 1947, in Farmville, Virginia. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School and received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Longwood University.
She was married to her loving husband Floyd for 56 years. They were married on August 25, 1968, in Farmville, Virginia. Olivia and Floyd had two sons, Cameron (married to Jennifer) and Jeff (married to Katie) and five grandsons (Austin, Tanner, Grayson, Landon, and Carter). She is also survived by her sister, Joanne Doss (married to John). She is preceded in death by her mother, Martha Holman LeStourgeon.
Olivia worked as a Home Economics teacher in Chesterfield County Schools for over 30 years, most of them at Providence Middle School. She is proud to have taught thousands of students the important skills needed for life, and she enjoyed imparting these skills on her sons and grandsons. Following her retirement from teaching, she loved traveling to Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, and attending every one of her grandsons' athletic and school events that she could.
Her family will host a reception to welcome family and friends and celebrate Olivia's life on Saturday, April 5th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bienvenue Event Center at 3841 Old Buckingham Road in Powhatan.

I am so sorry to just find out about Olivia´s death. She taught at Salem Muddle school when I was a student there! I also working in Chesterfield as a Home Economics teacher during her years. She was a lovely person with so much energy and a beautiful welcoming personality! My condolences!

I had Mrs. Palmore for Home Ec at Providence Jr High back in the 70s. I still remember that class so well! Mrs Palmore was a great teacher and made the class fun. I know she will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss...I remember the "old" days with Olivia and Floyd at our soccer games like they were just yesterday. Blessings to you and the whole family and you will be in our prayers.

Floyd and family,
You have my most sincere condolences. Although Olivia and I only crossed paths occasionally in life, I always enjoyed those moments when we connected. I met Olivia through my cousin, Kay Griffin, when they both taught at Providence Middle School. Those years she and Kay spent together became a lasting friendship. I admired how talented Olivia was. If only, I could have been that talented.
May the memories you have sustain you during these difficult times. Olivia has joined the choir of angels on high. May God surround and strengthen you at this time.
