Phoebe Hughes Carr

Phoebe Hughes Carr of Richmond, widow of Thomas P. Carr Sr., died Sunday, September 12, 2004. She is survived by one stepson, Thomas P. Carr Jr. and his wife, Sandy of Richmond; one stepdaughter, Patricia C. Layton and her husband, Rod of Salisbury, Md.; one sister, Mae H. Stafford and her husband, Kelly of Richmond; nieces and nephews, Ronald Stafford and his wife, Kathy of California, Martha Stafford Hermann and her husband, John of Texas, John D. Johnson and his wife, Sharon of North Carolina, Lynne Johnson Fischer and her husband, Stan and Betty Johnson, all of Richmond. She also leaves behind several step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, a great-niece and great-nephews. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Carr worked at the Federal Reserve Bank for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and the Tuckahoe Woman's Club. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 16 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Massey Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Research or the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.
