Richard Laird Obituary

Richard Laird

April 21, 1953 - August 12, 2024

Richard Michael Laird, 71, of Sandston, VA, went to be with God on Monday, August 12, 2024. Richard was born on April 21, 1953, to the late Richard Manners Laird and Anne Theresa Eidel Laird in St. Albans, Queens, NY. He was also preceded in death by his younger sister, Marie Elena Laird. Richard was a retired Master Sergeant with the Air National Guard and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His favorite was Harley-Davidson. He is survived by his children, Buzz (Wendy), Carrie, and Taylor (Cherokee); along with his grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, Emma, Heinrich and Gabriel; his sister, Patty Smith (Randy) and their children, Kelly and Michael. We all miss him so much as he was truly one of a kind.

A memorial service will be held in his honor, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. Richard was always down to support a noble cause, whether it was a school fundraiser for kids, wildlife conservation program, or a non-profit working to eliminate cancer. We ask that donations may be made in his honor to a charity or cause of your choice.
