Robert Beasley Obituary
May 5, 1934 - November 16, 2024
Robert "Bob" Beasley, 90, of Richmond, died peacefully, in his home on November 16, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sue Beasley; his children, John Beasley, Bill Beasley, and Melinda Rowlett; and his three grandchildren Dr. Rhianna Beasley, Layne Rowlett and Nicholas Rowlett. He grew up in Richmond, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and then obtained a master's degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. He was in the Navy and served in the Korean War where he was on the USS Forrestal and USS Waller. He also played guitar in a band during his time in the Navy. He was a voracious reader who always had library books in the backseat of his car. He was an avid tennis player and golfer, playing golf with his buddies at Meadowbrook Country Club. He loved to spend time at his river house in Lottsburg, Virginia on the Potomac River. Bob had a long and successful career working for the Richmond Times Dispatch for 40 years in various leadership positions.
Friends and family will be received at Bliley's Chippenham Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on November 26, 2024 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. The burial service will be at 1:00 p.m. at The Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.

My sincere condolences to the Beasley family. I worked with Bob at the newspaper for many years, he had a pleasant disposition. In addition to being co-workers, Bob sold my Son his very first car, a blue Honda! He loved that car! Thanks Bob, RIP.
