Robert Burke Obituary

Robert Russell Burke

February 10, 1951 - October 20, 2024

Robert Russell "Bobby" Burke, February 10, 1951 - October 20, 2024, left this Earth too soon. A personality that could fill a room and your heart - he was larger than life.

Born in Philadelphia, Bobby moved to Richmond in the 70's after serving in the Marines. He was a self-made man who started Roof Consulting Services in 1979 (once a roofer, always a roofer), Dakota's Bar and Restaurant in the early 90's and was also involved in Hondo's Restaurant. Roof Consulting Services sponsored many of the area's top men's and women's softball teams. He was passionate about these teams and would spare no expense. He enjoyed the camaraderie and travel and quickly added many of these team members to his family. Bobby's work as a softball sponsor has been honored through the Central Virginia Softball Hall of Fame and he is set to be inducted into the USSSA Softball Hall of Fame in the Spring of 2025.

Bobby's surviving family includes his wife, Linda Layton Burke; daughter Jules Burke; sons, Blaise and Rio Burke; stepchildren Jennifer and Michael Pittman; brothers, James Burke and Raymond Baldwin; and sisters, Elizabeth Scheetz and Margaret Torres. We would be remiss to say that his family also includes many current and former employees from Roof Consulting Services, the restaurants, the softball families and his truest friends who were there for him until the very end.

Finally, as Bobby joins his dog family Bandit and Duke, he leaves behind his best companion, Jake. Those who knew Bobby also knew he loved boats and being on the water, traveling, sports events of every kind and especially loved his family of friends. May he forever Rest in Peace.
