I will never forget how I first met Roy and his sincerity and fundamental understanding of the importance of research compliance and research integrity... at a time when the spotlight was just beginning to shine on the critical status of public trust.

Roy's leadership style was simply refreshing. And, when he could have easily taken full credit for collaborative work: he categorically refused -- always crediting those around him. It was an honor to work with you, Roy. "Roy the Hammer"

Dear Dace,
Roy had just stepped in as director of the ARC when I joined the staff. I could not have had a more understanding and intellectually stimulating supervisor. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dace, Roy was my hero. He was a bright spot at NIDA and was so supportive and he always had time to listen and give advice. His advice was awesome. He knew what was important in life. RIP Roy. Love to you and your family.
