Sandra Suskind Obituary

SUSKIND, Sandra Louise Fitch, 82, died on February 29, 2024. The daughter of Helen Steele Fitch and Edwin L. Fitch, she was born in Washington, D.C. on February 8, 1942, and lived in Maryland, in Savannah, Georgia, and in Richmond, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, David Suskind, and is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Suskind, son Gregory Suskind, daughter-in-law Dorothy, two grandsons Mac and Charlie Suskind, and numerous cousins and many dear friends. Sandy graduated from the University of Maryland and worked as an advertising art director, as events coordinator for the University of Maryland Alumni Association as well as for the Alumni Association for her sorority, Kappa Delta. She worked in both Richmond and Savannah as an interior designer for more than twenty years. She was on the Council of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and a volunteer at the Museum for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild and worked for May Fair House, benefiting numerous outreach programs. In Savannah she served on the Historic Savannah Board, and often hosted visiting groups in her home and garden. Sandy loved to cook and entertain and one of her greatest joys was traveling, although she always said that the best part was returning home. A small private service will be held for the family. During her lifetime she supported several animal causes, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the S.P.C.A. at 2519 Hermitage Road, Richmond, Va. 23220, or a charity of your choice.
