Mrs. Herrmann, Mike, and the rest of Steve's family: I have been thinking about Steve in the past few weeks because our graduating class' 20-year reunion is coming up this June. As tends to happen with milestones like these, I've been reflecting about the past. I've recently made contact with several past friends that I'd lost touch with over the years, and Steve was on the short list of those I still wanted to contact. I deeply, deeply regret not having attempted to do so earlier, as I deeply regret his passing. We were very close for a time, and I will always treasure that bond. Steve was like my Skipper and I was his Gilligan. He loved to entertain, and I loved his sense of humor. He deserved better than his fate. He deserved better from me.

To the family of Steve Herrmann, I am so sorry for your loss. Steve and I had many enjoyable times together. We were fraternity brothers at UVA in Theta Delta Chi. We played golf and tennis together and both enjoyed music. He was smart, kind and had a great sense of humor. I regret I did not stay in touch over the past few years. I will think of him often and remember the good times we had. Puck/Rob Benedict

To the family of Steve Herrmann: I am saddened by your loss. I knew Steve many years ago when we were at UVA together as fraternity brothers at Theta Delta Chi. He called me "Double-J" back then. Steve and I (and many others) shared a bond that was very special. The Steve I knew was kind and caring and would do anything for a friend. I am sorry that I did not stay in touch with Steve over the past several years - family and professional obligations are like that - but I will always treasure the good times we shared. Steve was a good man and he will be missed. As we might have done in our college days, today I will raise my glass in Steve's honor and toast "to the old lady!" Goodbye old friend! ITB - Double J.
