Charles Herrmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home - Wichita Falls on Jan. 28, 2026.
Charles "Chuck" John Herrmann, 96, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30th at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Demma officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Marie Frances (Dudek) and Charles J. Herrmann, Chuck was born on July 23, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Chuck grew up in Pittsburgh, graduating from Allegheny High School and enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He soon entered Officer Training School and began a career in aviation and flying helicopters. His 20-year career included a tour of Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War wherein Chuck was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star. After retiring from the military in 1972, Chuck moved into city government for the city of Wichita Falls for a couple years followed by a short stint as Project Manager for the Texas Department of Transportation which led him to the concrete industry. He enjoyed a second full 20-year career of serving as General Manager for OK Concrete and later Wichita Ready-Mix. At the same time, he earned a degree from Midwestern State University and officiated high school basketball, football, and baseball games.

In full retirement, Chuck enjoyed his free time fishing with friends at area stock tanks and spending time at grandchildren's ballgames and school events. He also cherished his time spent with the North Texas Men's Chorus. A special thanks goes to his good friend, Danny James.

Along with his parents, Chuck was also preceded in death by his sister Joy Marie (Herrmann) Schaefers.

He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Mary Jane "Janie" Herrmann. Children Kevin (Teresa), Mary Beth Henderson, Steven, Christopher (Stefanie). Grandchildren Jennifer Hull (Brent), Shawn Herrmann (Kathryn), Kyle Broadway, Eric Broadway, Laura Henderson, Erin Vega (Paul), Craig Herrmann (Nathalie), Lucas Herrmann, Noah Herrmann.
