Stephen John Medwid

April 19, 1948 - July 17, 2024

Devoted father and grandfather, Stephen John Medwid passed away on July 17, 2024 following a brief but valiant battle against cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mykolaj and Anna Medwid, wife Kathleen Matthews Medwid and brother Michael Medwid. He is survived by his son Nick (Kathy), daughter Kathleen and son Alex (Brooke), grandchildren Peyton, Sarah Paige, James, Owen and Baylen; sister Maria and countless cousins and nephews. Born in Ascheffenburg, Germany on April 19, 1948. Steve graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia and was a devoted follower of Virginia Tech. He married Kathy, his wife of 51 years and they made Ginter Park their home for 43 years. Steve was a multisport athlete and coach for many years, with his main love being soccer. The Outer Banks was a special vacation spot for Steve and he passed on his love of the area and fishing to his children and grandchildren. He was a most devoted grandfather and they were without a doubt his most special joy. A small gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of his son Nick.

A beautiful tribute to such a special person. Steve had such a big heart and a caring smile. Always Loved talking to Steve at many family gatherings and just sitting and visiting with him in Wingina. Will miss him so much!
