My prayers are with each of you during this difficult time. I met Steve when I started work with DCJS in 1988. He was very knowledgeable of the Library and really enjoyed his work. If you needed something and could not find it in the library, ask Steve. The materials would always have a way of showing up in your chair and you knew they came from Steve. I pray that each of you will find strength in your faith and peace in your special memories.

I have fond memories of Steve from UVA where his roommate Thurman Wenzel and I were in the math graduate program; especially his love of history and music, and his (to me) quick New York sense of humor. I know that his family and friends will miss him greatly.

I started working at the Dept. of Criminal Justice Services on November 25, 1998 and Steve was one of the first employees I met. I was only there a couple of weeks and Steve gave me a tour of the library. He seemed to enjoy his work. I will miss seeing Steve in our agency and send my heartfelt sympathy to his wife, sons and family.

To Steve's family,

My good friend and colleague Robert Hicks has just informed me of Steve's sudden death. Steve helped me so often when I worked at DCJS in the late 80's. His intuitiveness was such a blessing for me and for others who have worked with him through the years......he was the constant in so many lives. He will be missed. I hope memories bring you much peace.

To Coles and family,

I'm so sad to hear Steve has passed too soon and suddenly. I have fond, happy memories of Steve at UVA and for those years we worked near each other in Richmond, and sharing those moments with our children.

My heartfelt condolences,

Linda

Steve was an invaluable and sometimes overlooked resource in gathering information. I've known Steve since 1986 and know that the "card catalogue" of his mind surpassed "Google" searches in identifying needed material. As director of a state agency similar to Steve's place of employment, I know what a wonderful and unique resource Steve was. He will be missed.

As a fellow co-worker of Steve's, I knew him for almost 15 years. I will miss his dry sense of humor, his intellect, and as a fellow reader, all those great tips on where the best book sales were. But, most of all, I will just miss him. Your family is in our prayers.
