Thomas Bateman Obituary
Tom was born to Thomas and Buelah Bateman on October 2, 1950. After high school, he attended Emory and Henry College, where he studied business and served as president of Beta Lambda Zeta fraternity. Tom loved real estate, and it showed in his 40-year career as an award winning realtor and partner at Gilman and Bateman Realty.
There is no one else like Tom Bateman; there will never be one like him again. He had a passion for horse racing, his Alma Mater, classic rock and boating. Most of all, Tom pursued loving others as his primary vocation.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Maryea; his son, Tommy and his wife, Hollie; his daughter, Bonnie and her husband, Justin; his sisters, Linda and Peggy; and grandchildren, Mallorie, Richie, Walton and Parker.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Our Savior, located at 17102 Mountain Road in Montpelier, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for Church of Our Savior.

Tom was one of my earliest and best friends from my childhood when he and his sisters lived behind me on Norman Ave. in the mid 1950s. I had looked for him for over 60 years before finally reconnecting with him on Facebook this year. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to reconnect in person. Tom, I will continue to miss your priceless friendship. Tom is pictured on the top row in the 1st grade, 3rd from the left.
