Thomas Fudala Obituary

Thomas Fudala

November 12, 1941 - January 5, 2025

Thomas "Tommy" Ray Fudala, filled rooms with the cheerful melodies of his accordion for many decades before taking his final bow on January 5, 2025, in Richmond, VA. His passing at age 83 silenced a musical legacy that began in West Point, VA.

Born on November 12, 1941, to Andrew and Mary Fudala, Tom's passion for music emerged early in his childhood in West Point. His dream of pursuing music manifested notably through his mastery of the accordion, which became his signature instrument and brought joy to countless listeners.

Tom later served his country honorably in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that instilled discipline and a deep sense of duty.

Tom's greatest source of pride was raising his two sons, Gary and Greg with his first wife, Linda. Later in life, he fell in love with Louise Hosfield Cooke, a friend from high school, and they married in 2015. She was a gentle and kind soul who loved to teach and brought immeasurable joy to all those around her.

His generous spirit shone through his ongoing support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where he not only made regular donations but also sponsored a child, exemplifying his commitment to helping others.

He is survived by his children, Gary (Lisa) and Greg (Kay); grandchildren, Janine Birnbaum, Matthew Fudala, Kedrick Fudala, Camden Fudala, and Kaavya Fudala; and his siblings, Roger and Robin. Shortly after Tom's passing, Louise also passed away.

Tom and Louise's family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA, with a joint funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. Please note, there will be no procession to the cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Tom's memory will live on through the music he shared, his dedication to family, and his enduring generosity. His friends, along with many others, will remember him for the songs he played and the cheer he brought to their lives.
