July 1, 1928 - September 3, 2024
Vee Lorraine Williams, known as "Velo" to family and friends, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the age of 96.
She was the ninth child of the late Harrison and Rosa McGlothlin Keene. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Eugene T. Williams and her nine brothers and sisters.
Lorraine grew up in Southwest, VA, and became a clerk for a coal mining company store. She married and became a homemaker, later going to work for Burlington Industries and Eileen Co. She was a lifelong resident of the Aspen, VA, community before moving to Mechanicsville, VA, to live with her son and daughter. Lorraine enjoyed watching college basketball. She was often seen discussing the outcome of games on Sunday morning with her pastor.
She is survived by her son, Thornton Wayne Williams and wife, Ruthie; grandson, Andrew Williams and his wife, Amy, all of Mechanicsville, VA; grandson, Jeremy Williams and his wife, Jaymi of Ashland, VA; four great-grandchildren, Cory, Rebekah, Rose and Gracelynn; and a host of devoted nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Roanoke Presbyterian Church, 444 Ridgeway Rd. Brookneal, VA 24528, with a service to begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Advent Community Church Building Fund, 8079 Studley Rd. Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
