William MacMillan Obituary
December 28, 1928 - February 7, 2025
William E. "Bill" MacMillan of Richmond, Virginia, born 12-28-1928, entered Heaven peacefully surrounded by loved ones on 2-7-2025. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Amos and Grace Asher MacMillan. He was predeceased by his siblings, James R. MacMillan Mildred M. McCullough and Marion M. Moody. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Pat MacMillan; and his special lady friend, Betty Wilkinson. Bill worked in transportation management after graduating RPI (VCU). He served and retired from the Virginia National Guard after 30 years of service. He worked in the offices of C&O Railroad, Mobile Chemical Company, and finally, at Philip Morris before retiring at age 55. He then spent the last 41 years doing exactly as he pleased; traveling the world, snorkeling, mountain climbing, visiting Asia, going on 36 world cruises, dancing, camping ,and spending weekends in Deltaville, enjoying his rum and cigars. Bill is survived by his three daughters, Dr. Pamela J. MacMillan (David Winfrey), Cheryl R MacMillan, and Carol M. Bennett (David). He is survived by eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The family expresses deep appreciation to grandson Jacob Whitaker who put his life in hold so Bill could stay in his own home these last few months. A celebration of the unique life of Bill MacMillan will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA, 23113.
