William McReynolds Obituary

William David McReynolds

February 25, 1965 - August 17, 2024

William David McReynolds of Rockville, VA died on the morning of Saturday, August 17th 2024 at VCU Medical Center due to complications from a bone marrow transplant. William was born February 25th, 1965 in Hampton, VA. He is survived by his wife Missy, his sons and their families Wil (wife Taylor, son Carter), Patrick (wife Mercedes, children Collin, Ashton, Macie), and Tyler (wife Austyn), mother Betty, sisters Pat and Annette, and brother Brian. Of course we cannot forget his beloved beagles Luke and Lacey.

William was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He touched so many people in the Richmond community through his accounting practice (Tax and Business Services of Virginia) and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He valued his family and the many people whose lives he touched above all. The connections he created in his personal and professional life were what brought him the most joy.

He poured his love into helping those around him and reached out to all who needed a hand. Whether it was taking on pro bono work, caring for family members in need, or repairing someone's home, his motivation throughout his life was to help anyone he could. If he wasn't helping someone, William could be found playing on a beach with his grandkids.

William was a constant goofball and jokester. His sarcastic nature always kept us on our toes and wondering what he was up to. His smile didn't show many teeth, as that is not the McReynolds way, but it came out often and inspired others to smile too. His family will remember William's love for the life he created with Missy and how that smile grew ten times when holding one of his grandchildren.

We will dearly miss those bad jokes and the smart quips he wove into any conversation. His clients and loved ones will always remember William's years-long transition from formal business attire to casual wear, culminating with one of the most extensive Hawaiian shirt collections a tax accountant has ever owned.

Williams' excitement for music was infectious. His family will miss him quizzing us on the music artists he loved. We will keep listening to the likes of Bill Monroe, Bruce Springsteen, REO Speedwagon, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Jimmy Buffett for him. We will also make sure to continue his tradition of Christmas Music starting in October.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at some point in the weeks to come. This will be open to all who knew William. Information on this is forthcoming.

Please accept our most sincere condolences on the loss of William. We only knew him through his business. We always had a very good feeling when we met with him to do our personal taxes. We enjoyed our chats with him during the consultations. His honesty and humorous personality came through as a reassurance of his commitment to do his best with our account. We will deeply miss him. - Emmett and Aminta Jennings

When I opened the letter from his Tax & Business Services office, letting us know that William had passed away, I was in shock and heartbroken. We had no idea William had been ill. My husband, Linwood, and I have been seeing William every year for the last, I don't know how many years, since before he started his tax services company. We started with American Express Tax Service in 1996 and when Amex closed, William gladly took us as his client and the world was very good since then. We never had to worry about filing our taxes accurately, completely, using the best strategy that benefitted us (William was such a pro!), and on time, early! February 2024 was the last time we saw William. He seemed different, he mentioned a bit of physical issue, but made no big deal of it, and continued with our annual fun visit of talking about our families, what our girls are up to, and conversely, we would ask about his sons and what their latest ventures were; he was so very proud of them! We will miss our annual meetings and mostly the fun conversations unrelated to taxes .
There will be no one that can replace William.

Condolences to the entire McReynolds family. May William rest in peace and rise in glory!

I will miss his measured, dry sense of humor. His steadyness. And his loyalty to friends and family. Rest in Peace my friend.

Maybe we could not say goodbye because our fraternity has not finished with your unexpected departure.
Some of us do not need to be around for too long to have and leave behind people that will remember as long as they are living
If any thing could give us hope maybe that while anyone remembers us we remain a live in someone heart and mind and you should know that too many people have affection for you and will keep many memories of you as a honest and kind person
Sorry for taking this espace and opportunity to led out a little bit of my heart on behalf of my white brother and his family

I share the family feeling of pain and sorrow for the unexpected loss of my brother/ friend and deeply grateful to have been able to share his life with his blood family
I have the burden of my inability to recognize the gravity of his condition and not having been there during the last hours/minutes and seconds of the terrible loss we all suffered
Perhaps because I was so close and confident that Willam would survive his treatment I did not see the end of his life approaching so quickly and unexpectedly to me
My professional experience was blindsided by personal emotions and the great expectation that he would be able to make it through the process.
I just want to express and share with all of you the unexpected devastating surprise I received that unfortunate Saturday morning

Thanks for letting me be there with you today

William was introduced to me by my friend and former colleague at work. From that point on, I always used his tax services. He was truly a gentleman and always ready to help. He will surely be missed, and I personally will keep him in my memories year after year. I will definitely remember him when it is time for the tax season. Rest in peace, my friend.

I will miss our distant cousin. Grandma said we all had to be related since she was a McReynolds before marrying grandpa. Sure will miss his dry humor and sarcasm.
