Yvonne Balasakis Angelo

Yvonne Balasakis Angelo "Yiayia Ma" passed away quietly and peacefully on her wedding anniversary, July 12, 2005, at home with her family by her side at the age of 92. She was born in Thrace, Greece, on July 15, 1913. She touched the hearts of everyone that met her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Anthony Angelo; and her son, Anthony Constantine. Mrs. Angelo is survived by her daughter, Mary Trahadias and her husband, Philip; and her son, Ernest Constantine and his wife, Rita; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Angelo was a former owner of Angelo's Restaurant, was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Philoptochos Society and the Eastern Star. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the Trisagion Prayer Service will be held Thursday (tonight) at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Interment Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any expressions of love be sent to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Building Fund or Sentara Hospice of Chesapeake. The family would like to thank the Sentara Hospice for their kind, compassionate healthcare given to our loved one during her illness.
