Darrell taught me to fly in the 60s. If I didn´t have the $7.50 to rent the airplane for an hour he went ahead and rented it for me so he could teach me at no charge. We both had a love for old music and spent many hours listening to it. You will be missed. Rest In Piece Good Friend.

Thank you Darrell for all you did for the pilots who visited and were based at Highland County Airport. We will miss your 'welcome back' call and helpful weather and traffic reports over the radio as we approached to land. Rest in peace my friend!

My condolences to the family of Darrell. I met him at the Highland County Airport when I flew in on occasion. I enjoyed talking to him and hearing some of his stories. I flew in yesterday and learned of his death and even more of his Military history and being a flight instructor in the military.
Another great veteran is passing.
