Steven James McCarley, 68, passed away at his home in Norman, Okla. on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Athens, Ohio on Sept. 28, 1946 to James and Florence McCarley.
He grew up in Hillsboro, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1964. He attended The Ohio State University and Ohio University. He became a park ranger for the state of Ohio at Rocky Fork State Park. He was made trainer for the state of Ohio park rangers and started the mounted rangers program. Steve later entered the construction business in Tyler, Texas, where he worked for several companies as a project manager. He moved to Lawton, Okla. where he met and married his second wife, Kaye Jenkins McCarley. They recently moved to Norman, Okla. to be near Kaye's sons and family.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Paula.
He is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Gilstrap (Bill) of Colorado Springs and Kristen Cornett of Tyler, Texas; two stepsons, Michael Jenkins (Kim) and Steve Jenkins (Vanessa) of Norman, Okla.; his sister, Pat Heaton of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Tom McCarley of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. His dad and my dad were very good high school friends and I remember my dad telling me about him being a park ranger. Sending prayers.

Sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was in the Class of 64 in Hillsboro, OH. He never came back to any reunions. We missed seeing him.
