Lori Leneve Obituary

Lori Denece
Leneve

Lori Denece Leneve left us unexpectedly on April 25, 2014. Lori was born to Chet and Carol Leneve in Eugene, Oregon on March 2nd, 1955. As an adult, she spent time in the San Juan Islands and Colorado before settling into the Beaverton area for the last 25 years. Lori had a gregarious personality that led her to exploring various jobs before finding her true calling in life -- educating young children. She was a marvelous teacher of kindergarteners to second graders, with a remarkable ability to open the world to them in a patient, caring and fun manner. She could be zany in class, often dressing up and taking on personalities to augment her class lessons. She cared so much for "her kids" that she often bought special supplies, food and gifts for them out of her own funds. She truly loved every minute of her time with children.

Lori was a voracious reader and a lover of music. She was a relentless care giver, offering her services to many in need of help. She volunteered on ride-alongs with the Beaverton Police, marveling at their work. In her last several years she became very connected with the Lakota People through the Sundance Ceremony, finding peace in their ways.

Lori is survived by her brother Lon, his wife Sally, nephews Andrew, Tucker and Derek, step-father Frank, her uncle Jim and cousins Cassie and Cory. She is predeceased by her mother Carol and her sister Robin. A memorial gathering will be held at Nel Centro, Sunday, June 15th at noon in Portland.

Very belatedly I offer condolences to Ms Leneve“s family and friends. She was kindergarten teacher to both my kids way back in the 90s, and she was such a lovely, warm, and kind person, and a wonderful teacher. I am sorry you lost her so early. Just know what a positive influence she had on my kids, and many others.

Lon - I'm very sorry to hear about your sister. I lost my brother last year, so I know this is not easy, and there's this big empty space in your heart. My thoughts are with you and Sally.

I was so sad to hear about Lori. She truly loved life!!! I used to study with Lori while earning our teaching degrees, often while eating at one of her favorite places, The Twin Dragon. She was a hoot, always laughing, sharing funny stories and being caring and kind. She was born to be a teacher and she loved her students. Her special spirit friendship, and smile will be missed.

I met Lori at McKinley Elementary where my daughter attended school. She had a heart as BIG as her personality. I use to crack up at some of the get ups she would wear for the class of the day. Her smile and laugh was infectious!

I met Lori at McKinley Elementary, her unique laugh, amount of energy and her joy for teaching traveled through the hallways. I never forgot when her students wanted to know how far a frog could jump. Next thing I saw was Lori and her entire class of kindergartners watching a large frog jumping in the hallways, and Lori right behind it.
Dear Lori, you have been an inspiration in many ways. I feel so blessed to have known you. We (my boys and I) will always remember you !!

Lori's mom and my mom taught together at River Road School, Carol was my second grade teacher. I knew Lori when I was in grade school, she was younger. I'm so sorry, Lori sounds like an amazing teacher, like her mom. Again, Frank, and Lon, I'm so sorry. Stephanie Kingman
