Stanley Anders Obituary

Stanley S. Anders, Jr., 88, a resident of Brittany Pointe Estates of Lansdale for the last 13 years, passed away April 6, 2013 at Abington Health Lansdale Hospital, after a short illness. He had formerly lived in Norristown and Plymouth Meeting. Born March 17, 1925 in Norristown, he was the son of the late Stanley S. and Elizabeth (Rambo) Anders. He lost Alice (Munro) Anders, his wife of 60 years, in 2007. He is survived by two children, Stanley S. Anders, III and his wife, Christine of Savannah, GA, and Elizabeth Anders of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Amy Anders of San Francisco, CA, Ross Anders (Tamatha) of Austin, TX, and Margaret Anders Brenner (Ryan) of Cincinnati, OH; and a great- grandson, Jack Anders Brenner. Stan graduated from Norristown Senior High School in 1943. He then entered the U. S. Army where he served in World War II in the European Theatre, receiving five Battle Stars. After the war, he attended The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. He began his career at The Montgomery County Bank and then Alan Wood Steel Co. From there, he joined the Taylor Fibre Company and progressed up to the position of vice president of finance and treasurer. When Alco Standard acquired the company, he became assistant secretary and later was a divisional group vice president and controller until he retired. He was a member of Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting and Audubon Golf Club in Bonita Springs, FL. He was active in the communities in which he lived as a life member of The Financial Executives International, a trustee and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Norristown, president of The Exchange Club of Plymouth Whitemarsh and a long-time volunteer at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown. He was involved with The Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster and district commissioner, and was a member of Central Schwenkfelder Church in Worcester. Services will be private. Burial will take place at Garden of Memories at Central Schwenkfelder Church. For those desiring, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are by R.
