I am so sorry I am just seeing this! I wanted to share my story of my relationship with Bart Braun! I work in the hotel industry and met Bart while he was on assignment with the Tampa Rays! I immediately was drawn to the guy because of his kind hearted nature! I met a lot of scouts and famous athletes and what not! Bart was different! A truly genuine person! I stayed in contact with Bart for a few years! He even met my son and Zachary at a Kannapolis Intimidators baseball game! He was awesome to my son and very friendly in his manners! I was shocked when I saw he had passed! I want to send out my condolences to his wife and son Bart! You husband/father was a great person! Sorry for the late post but I felt it necessary for me to post this! May you all find peace in remembrance! To Bart I will always cherish the memories I have of you! Godspeed! Michael Ferguson

Bart and I played on the Vallejo High Apaches football team together and what I remember was the impact he made during the '73 season. One moment stands out: Playing on a muddy mess of a field on a rain-soaked Friday evening up in Calistoga. Bart played defensive back and I was a linebacker. After suffering an ankle injury and being out for two games, the Calistoga venture was my first return to the field. So I was a bit rusty and somewhat slow to react, especially when it came to defending against the dreaded screen pass. So it was that I failed to defend against a screen pass that the coaches had previously had me practice against ad naseum.
But Bart had my back.
He quickly sloshed through the mud to tackle the running back, but due to the conditions on the field, and the fact that every player was caked in mud, Bart couldn't quite take his opponent to the ground. For my part, and after recognizing the situation, I rushed towards the two as fast as was possible, sprang to make the hit, and the three of us tumbled to the ground.
I remember the sounds that the pads made when making contact and realized that what I had done was tackle both the running back and Bart. But he thought it was great, and we celebrated an effort in tandem because if we hadn't it would surely had meant that Calistoga would have made a touchdown.
Bart was all smiles. I can't remember anyone on that team who had the amount of enthusiasm that Bart had for playing, and I'm sure that this spirit carried him through life and on to far greater heights. I only learned of Bart's passing today. Please accept my condolences and know that even as far back as our time on the playing field was, Bart was and is treasured.

To the Braun Family,
Please accept my condolences and remember Bart's fun-filled spirit and laughter. Bart was a friend of mine while we were growing up in Vallejo and at Solano College. I will always remember Bart walking around in a trench-coat, baseball cap, and tossing a baseball up in the air.....over, and over, again! As Bart would say, " put the lime in the coconut Strat....
I will miss you my Brother. Kim David Stafford, aka Strat

I guess this means you and Paul Scola won’t have a rematch at the Vallejo Junior High School inner track to bet on who can throw a football farther. It seems like only yesterday you and Scola challenged each other on who had faster fastball or football canon arm during our “wonder years” in junior high school. I’m so happy you had a life well lived in MLB!

Patty and Barton,
I was blessed to have known Bart for 31 years. His passion for his family and the game of baseball were a constant throughout those years. He lived and loved the game and his family. His work ethic was unrivaled as were his sense of humor and his generosity. He made the game fun and for all the years we worked together it never seemed like work when he was around. It was a pure joy and a privilege to have been his friend and colleague and I will miss him dearly. But I know he’s looking on down on us all and making sure we “look out for the curveball”.
Bart and you both are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

BART, My good Friend from way back, I am so very thankful for all the good times we shared back in our school days together, the basketball we played together after school, going up to your house and hanging out... The " JOY' to watch you participate in school sports, i can remember back at Vallejo Junior high school days at a home school basketball game you broke the all time most points scored in a single basketball game, somewhere in the neighborhood 40 points, I can still reflect on us in the bleachers all looking up on the wall and reading the plaque posting the name of the person that scored the most points in one game up to that point as you were closing in on the record and when you scored the basket that broke that old record everyone cheered your name. if I recall the old record stood for around 30 years... You were scoring from everywhere on the court, a lot of the shots where from the deep side corner of the court, the displayed of your ability of dribbling down the court, set up and shoot had such a beautiful rhythm to it that's one of a kind... I remember your older brothers playing city softball at Washington play ground, I am THINKING it was brother Doug who was the catcher for Wilson Russel Ford team if my memory serves me right, One of my older brothers played on Redwood pharmacy as there catcher and i would go down and watch them play... Brother Bart we have so many laughs and GOOD times to cherish and I think of you often through the years and always look over at your home you grew up in up around the corner from the Vallejo high school tennis courts... OUR Prayers are with you Patty and Bart junior and the Family and Friends NOW and ALWAYS, May GOD's Peace and LOVE Guide you ALL Always, Brother Bart WE ALL Love you for nothing LOVED is EVER Lost... And like brother Eric said see you again brother, until then thinking of you and holding you close, Love Paul...

Bart-
All the countless hours playing strikeouts and and sock basketball with a hanger! I will always cherish the memories of growing up in the same room and laughing throughout the night. I couldn't of asked for a better big brother. RIP and someday i will see you soon, but hopefully not too soon!
