Joseph Battle-Davis Obituary

Sept. 27, 1969 - Jan. 22, 2011

Joseph Battle-Davis, along with his wife, Tamera Brown-Battle, was sent to be with the angels on Jan. 22, 2011.

Although he was taken from us way too soon, he has left so many wonderful memories and touched so many lives, that he will never be forgotten. They have left it up to us to take care of their two beautiful children, Jazi and Joey. Need not worry.

Joe was born Sept. 27, 1969 in Oakland and raised in Vallejo, Calif. Joe loved camping, being in the water, watching his kids play sports, coaching and spending time with his family and friends.

Joe was a member of the rap group N2DEEP, and also released a solo album under his rap name LOFTY. Through his music, he was able to travel and perform all over the globe.

He was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for always being the life of the party and for making sure to put a smile on everyone's face.

He is survived by his daughter, Jazi; son, Joey; mother, Jinny Grondin; sister, Tahra Davis; brother, Nino Davis; nieces, Taquise Ervin and Nianna Garrido-Davis; a nephew, Brandon Buford; his second family, The Trujillos; and so many friends and loved ones from all over the world.

A service to celebrate his and Tami's life will be held at noon Feb. 5, 2011 at the Dan Foley Cultural Center.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made payable to: The Brown-Battle Memorial fund, Travis Credit Union, P.O. Box 2069, Vacaville, CA 95696, Acct. No. 472536, Attn. M.S.A. Dept.

MEMORIES,PICTURES AND TRUE FRIENDSHIPS MEAN EVERYTHING. TO A GUY I NEVER KNEW WHO HAS CAPTURED SO MANY HEARTS. ITS SO SAD WHEN WE LOOSE OUR LOVED ONES WHO MEAN SO MUCH TO US. WE WAKE UP EVERYDAY AND THINK WHY. IT DRAGS US DOWN AND HURTS A WHOLE BUNCH, WE MUST REMEMBER THEIR ALWAYS CLOSE AND SEND MANY MESSAGES, ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS RECOGNIZE AND PAY ATTENTION.
MUCH LUV... }}}}}angel{{{{{

I still can't believe you are gone. I close my eyes to say a prayer but only tears and emotions flow over me. What a loss for so many that knew you. The service Saturday is still unreal to me. You touched so many lives. You'll always be our third Son.
I love and miss you beyond words, Mama Travers

Oh JD...I think about you every day along with your wife and children and all of your family and friends that loved you so much. Every day I wake up, I still can't believe you're gone. I am so thankful that my boys had you for the short time they did, even if only to cut their hair. It was a big deal that you cut their hair. You were the "cool awesome guy" downtown at the barber shop. My boys loved going...one so shy the other so outspoken but you were SO great with both of them and their different personalities. I loved the way you handled them. Thank you for that, thank you for being so great with them, it means more to me than you will ever know! May your children find comfort in the love shown by so many different people, families and communities. You were one amazing person to have touched so many lives so deeply.

Joe, we met in Jr.High School, that was some 30 years ago... It seems like yesterday we were all cruising springs road in our Mini trucks,I will always remember the Gold and Burgundy speed boat paint job,I am blessed to have had you in my life, although we weren't that close back in the day,you always made it a point to make me laugh or smile,we grew closer the last few years and I'm greatful for that,I brought my sons in to get their haircuts from you and you made them feel comfortable and they always left with a smile on their faces, and my son said to me the other day I'm gonna miss Joe he always made me laugh...I said to him don't worry son he's looking down on us right now from heaven and that he has a Guardian Angel looking over him now,he makes me play the song that Jim and Ronnie made for you and Tami every time we get in the car,you will be missed every single day but we will never forget! Rest in Paradise!

The first night I met you 2 years ago at that crab feed in Vallejo you said, “Welcome to the family, it’s a great family to be a part of!” I’ll always remember that, you were so right. You always were so welcoming and just wanted everyone around you to feel the love, stick together and have fun. We miss you so much, things will never be the same without your big hugs and great times. Love and miss you guys so much…

This has been such a trajedy for the entire community and we are simply at a loss for words. It has been so great to see the love and support of friends, family, and community.

I only met you once,Lofty.Though, I've sold your music for years. That being said,I find it odd that everyday for the last week I have thought of you, your wife and family that I did not know. I contemplated why and thought because it's so tragic and I'm a caring person and it's pure human nature. Also, I'm married with 2 kids....Then, I realized that wasn't why I can't get them off my mind. It is Joe and Tami as people. Two people I didn't personally know. But, wow how they are affectingme. I didn't know them, but I'm reading and feeling how much they positively affected other peoples lives. They have done the same for me. I will hug my kids a little longer, spend more time having fun with my family and get more involved in my community. What a blessed gift their children are to the world. May peace be with all family, friends and fans.

I'm still in shock that you and Tami are gone, I know you two are in a better place looking down on us. You def left a lasting impression on my son's life. You encouraged him soo much last year and even the last time we saw you not even 3 weeks ago. Not only did you encourage him, you made Dominic stronger in so many ways. Thank you for blessing my son with that. You will be missed and when my time comes, I'll see you again. Rest in peace. You left a legacy and strength behind not only with your children, but everyone else. God Bless

I work down town, so I'd see Joe all the time. Walking down town by the barber shop without you shouting somethin at me, (through the window) will never be the same. You will definitely be missed. You were always a good guy to talk to, and it was refreshing to see another positive father figure out there, so involved, and encouraging to there kids.....thanks for the blue print.....N.
