Joshua Gamboa Obituary

July 17, 1972 - Nov. 14, 2005

Joshua Frank Gamboa, born in Reno, Nev., on July 17, 1972, died in a tragic motorcycle accident on Nov. 14, 2005. At the time of his passing, Joshua was engaged to marry Gina Abeyta of Benicia, Calif. He had recently relocated to Benicia and was excited about beginning a new life with Gina and her daughter Maxine, and starting a new career in the wine industry, working for The Henry Wine Group.

Josh, as his family and friends knew him, loved the spiritual peace he found in gardening, home improvement projects and beach-combing. Josh had a loving and caring heart, and always had a twinkle in his eye when he looked upon those he loved. His family grieves in their loss of a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.

Josh is survived by his mother, Nanette Merlino; father, Frank Gamboa Jr.; stepfather, Mike Merlino; brothers, Anthony Merlino and Frankie Gamboa III; sisters, Nicole Merlino and Cassandra Gamboa; grandparents, Joan and Clark Halstead, and Olga and Francisco Gamboa; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces from both sides of his family. We will all miss him.

Private services to celebrate his life were held at the First Congregational Church in Reno, Nev.

Thought about you today. We we together, as friends, during the summer of '87.
Only a few would understand what that means. Years later you walked into my work (bartending) with that dude I married. After work I ran my Cavalier against your 5.0 (mustang or cougar) you made it through the gate to your apartment complex. I didn't. You and Pat watched me through the bushes you hid in. I didn't get a ticket. We laughed so hard.
Love you Josh. Miss you.
