Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Bill was 77 when he died.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1962. He joined the city of Vallejo Fire Department in 1962, and retired as fire captain in 1989. He was an avid reader and could always be found with a book. Louis L'Amour was his favorite author. He enjoyed traveling through the deserts of the western United States.
Bill is survived by his son, Craig (Gayle) Crowder of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; daughter, Debra Grant of Vallejo, Calif.; son, Wayne Crowder of Vallejo stepdaughter, Mary Jane (Randy) Martin of Napa, Calif.; sister, Dorothy (Eldon) Hill of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Lowell Crowder; son, William Crowder, Jr.; and brother, John Crowder.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Rice Mortuary Chapel in Torrance. A reception in the Lighthouse Room follows until 4:30 p.m. Private burial will take place at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside.
