Carl Cilvik Obituary
Born on Dec. 15, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Apolinaris and Anna Grasavage Cilvik.
Carl was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, class of 1951, and a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. Carl was then self-employed with Cilvik Products Co. for 44 years and retired from Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Transportation Department.
Carl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Rita Shahoney.
Prior to its closing, Carl was a member of St. Joseph's Monastery in Wilkes-Barre Township, where he served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a prior member of the Georgetown Friars Club.
Carl was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He enjoyed his day trips and overnight travel with family and friends, annual fishing trips to Canada for more than 50 years and visits to East Coast casinos.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katy Cilvik; brothers Bernard, Joseph and Edward Cilvik; sisters Matilda VanDyke, Stella Werkman, Anna Killian, Regina Cilvik, Margaret Krummell and Catherine Cilvik.
Carl is survived by his children, Ralph Cilvik and his wife, Kathleen, Glendora, N.J.; Lynn Cilvik, Hockessin, Del.; Ruth Cilvik McManus and her husband, James; David Cilvik, Wilkes-Barre Township; Brian Cilvik and his wife, Crissy, Wilkes-Barre; Candice Cilvik and Brandon Usloski, Bear Creek Township.; Carrie Cilvik and her fiancé, Jesse Bubul, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Jessica Cilvik Stepanski and her husband, Jamie; Alexandra and Samantha Pauciulo, and Emily Cilvik; sisters Marie Avery, Liberty, N.Y., and Joan Booth, Monticello, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Carl Cilvik and family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for its excellent care and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, 134 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception Church.
