Diane Samuels

Diane Samuels, 52, of Nuangola, Pa., passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of Mary Ann Samuels and the late Robert Samuels. Diane attended Wyoming Area School District and was part of Step By Step program for 37 years, spending 22 years at her Dallas, Pa., home, and the remaining in Nuangola, Pa. Diane attended Day Development Program in Kingston, and Wilkes-Barre.

Diane is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Samuels; her sisters, Lynn (Rich) Belles, of West Wyoming, and Sheryl Samuels, of West Wyoming. She is also survived by her nieces: Carissa Belles, of Pa.; Kalene (Cory) Bonneau, of Ohio; and nephew, Nicholas Belles, of Pa. She will be missed by her aunts, uncles and cousins.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Step by Step for the compassion, care, and dedication provided to Diane throughout her time with you. Diane always enjoyed listening to music, dancing, joking around, and being the center of attention. It brought her so much joy knowing she was surrounded by people who supported and embraced her. Your kindness made a world of difference, and it is because of you that she was able to feel comforted and cared for. A heartfelt thank you for treating Diane with such warmth and respect.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Monica's Parish, 363 W. Eighth St., West Wyoming. Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to church the morning of the Mass. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Diane's name to Step by Step Foundation, 744 Kidder St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702; or St Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
