LUZERNE — Frank Joseph DiBuo, 88, of Luzerne, passed away Nov. 19, 2024, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, Plains Township.
He was born Dec. 4, 1935, and was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Martello DiBuo. He was a graduate of Luzerne High School and Penn State, Wilkes-Barre. An Army veteran, he served two years at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne.
Frank was employed as a survey crew chief and was a member of Operating Engineers 542-C. He worked for Bechtel Corporation on construction of the Procter & Gamble plant, PPL Nuclear Power Plant, Frackville, and Nesquehoning co-generation plants. Frank was also employed on the construction of Interstate 81, tower line construction, river dike restoration, reconstruction of Interstate 80 and, prior to his retirement, the construction of the Scranton Industrial Highway.
An avid hunter, fisherman and trap shooter, he was a member of the Rose Hill Trap Club and the Harveys Lake Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams: Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Vikings and Penn State.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marlene, the love of his life, who died on Jan. 23, 2017.
Surviving are his son, Frank and his wife, Donna, Easton; daughter, Michelle and her husband, Thomas Appleman, Stockertown; granddaughters: Maria DiBuo, Adrianah and Katie Appleman; and brother, James and his wife, Yvonne, Pittsford, New York.
Frank will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Ltd., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m Sunday. Interment with military honors will be in the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
