Frank Perfinski Obituary

Frank L. Perfinski, 99, of West Wyoming, originally of Plains Township, passed away April 17, 2025, at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton.

Born in Plains Township on Sept. 16, 1925, Frank was the son of the late Peter and Rose Jaworski Perfinski. He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1943. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and honorably served his country for seven and a half years during World War II and Korea. He was honorably discharged on May 4, 1952, with the rank of petty officer 1st class electrician.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Nelson Manufacturing, Wyoming, and later was employed by West Side Tech High School as support staff in the maintenance department. He also served as president of the union for several years.

Frank was a very active member of the American Legion Morning Star Post 904, West Wyoming. He served as commander adjunct and membership chairman. He was a devoted Catholic member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, now St. Monica's Parish, where he served as an alter server for funeral services for 21 years, and a church usher for six decades. He was also president of the Holy Name Society, treasurer, delegate and master of arms. He was very active, serving on the bazaar committee.

Frank was also active in the community, serving as judge of elections for over five decades. He was one of the organizers of the West Wyoming Volunteer Ambulance group, and a Red Cross volunteer and blood donor, volunteering 92 pints of blood.

He was president of the Wyoming-West Wyoming Seniors for 14 years, and had the honor of being grand marshall in the West Wyoming and Wyoming Parade in 2012.

A loving and devoted family man, he treasured every moment he had with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was working in his garden and raising beautiful flowers. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles.

Frank's beloved wife, the late Margaret Holub Perfinski, passed away on Jan. 10, 2002, and a lovely infant daughter passed away in 1955. Together, Frank and Margaret shared 49 beautiful years of marriage. Frank's siblings who preceded him in death were Rose Rompola, Tony and Joseph Perfinski, and Helen Kultz.

Surviving are his son, Frank Jr. and his wife, Sheryl, Newark, Delaware; daughter, Linda Bucci and her husband, Mike, West Wyoming; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gubbiotti Funeral Home LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Monica's Parish, 363 W 8th St., West Wyoming, with the Rev. Peter Tomczak, pastor, as celebrant.
