Fred Schneikart, 85, of Wilkes-Barre passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Nanticoke, the son of the late Leon and Helen Weiss Schneikart. Fred graduated from Nanticoke High School class of 1954. He received a diploma in mechanical drafting from Chicago Technical College.
Fred was employed as a machinist/inspector at Walben Division of Kanarr Corp. He retired in 2001 as Chief Inspector from the former Valley Mfg. Corp.
Fred was a member of St. Andrew's Parish, Wilkes-Barre. Prior to its closure, Fred was a lector and active member of St. Boniface Church, Wilkes-Barre. He was a coach and very involved in South Wilkes-Barre Teener League baseball.
Some of his favorite pastimes were daily crossword puzzles, reading and listening to his music collection.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Gail Marie and daughter-in-law, Missy Schneikart.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Lucille Heck Schneikart; daughter, Amy Saraka and her husband Tim, Ashley; son, Paul Schneikart, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Holly and Renee Saraka, Tyler, Logan, and Michael Schneikart; sister, Carole Smith, Emerson, N.J., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew's Parish, 316 Parrish St. Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
