James J. Mullin Sr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. Born in Ashley, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Bellew) Mullin.
James was a proud graduate of Ashley High School and a member of the 1958 St. Leo's State Championship basketball team. He honorably served in the U.S. Army. James had a successful career as a conductor with the Delaware & Hudson - CP Rail and was also a self-employed real estate and appraisal broker, owning JJ Mullin Realty.
A devoted member of St. Leo's Church in Ashley, James was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the American Legion Post 673 in Ashley.
James was an avid fan of Notre Dame sports, particularly football and women's basketball. He enjoyed watching the games with his childhood friend, Mr. Clarke.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Dawn Bryson Mullin; granddaughters: Rebecca and Julia Moore; brothers: Edmund, Thomas and Joseph; and sisters: Mary Mullin, Frances Juinta, Patsy Shiner and Clare Kopicki.
He is survived by his children: James (J.J.) Mullin, West Pittston; Tamara Mullin, Round Lake, Ill.; Dawn Marie McCoy; Mays Landing, N.J.; Bridget Gollin, Blakeslee; Sean Mullin, Peckville; and Francis Mullin, Philadelphia. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and his sister, Rosellen Sukadelski of Bethlehem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, in St. Leo's Holy Rosary Church, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in St. Leo's Church prior to the Mass.
